Reducing digital clutter helps the planet by lowering energy consumption in data centers. Follow these steps to clean up your digital storage and showcase your impact!


Step 1: Check Your Storage Usage

๐Ÿ“Œ Google Drive: Go to Google Storage and take a screenshot of your current usage.
๐Ÿ“Œ OneDrive: Visit OneDrive Storage and note your used space.
๐Ÿ“Œ Gmail/Outlook: Check email storage from settings and take a screenshot.


Step 2: Find & Delete Unwanted Data

๐Ÿ” Google Drive & OneDrive

  • Sort files by size to find and delete large ones.
  • Search by date (e.g., before:2022-01-01) to locate old files.
  • Delete duplicates and outdated documents.

๐Ÿ“ง Gmail & Outlook

  • Search category:promotions (Gmail) or use filters (Outlook) to find unnecessary emails.
  • Search has:attachment larger:10MB to delete large emails.
  • Unsubscribe from mailing lists.

๐Ÿ“ Google Docs, Sheets, Slides & Microsoft Office Files

  • Remove outdated projects and empty old revision history.
  • Delete unnecessary spreadsheets, presentations, and notes.

Step 3: Empty the Trash

๐Ÿšฎ Google Drive & OneDrive: Open Trash/Recycle Bin and delete all items.
๐Ÿšฎ Gmail & Outlook: Clear the Trash or Deleted Items folder.
