Reducing digital clutter helps the planet by lowering energy consumption in data centers. Follow these steps to clean up your digital storage and showcase your impact!
Step 1: Check Your Storage Usage
๐ Google Drive: Go to Google Storage and take a screenshot of your current usage.
๐ OneDrive: Visit OneDrive Storage and note your used space.
๐ Gmail/Outlook: Check email storage from settings and take a screenshot.
Step 2: Find & Delete Unwanted Data
๐ Google Drive & OneDrive
- Sort files by size to find and delete large ones.
- Search by date (e.g.,
before:2022-01-01
) to locate old files. - Delete duplicates and outdated documents.
๐ง Gmail & Outlook
- Search
category:promotions
(Gmail) or use filters (Outlook) to find unnecessary emails. - Search
has:attachment larger:10MB
to delete large emails. - Unsubscribe from mailing lists.
๐ Google Docs, Sheets, Slides & Microsoft Office Files
- Remove outdated projects and empty old revision history.
- Delete unnecessary spreadsheets, presentations, and notes.
Step 3: Empty the Trash
๐ฎ Google Drive & OneDrive: Open Trash/Recycle Bin and delete all items.
๐ฎ Gmail & Outlook: Clear the Trash or Deleted Items folder.
